The Annual Report on NATIONAL METARANKING for 2021 has been recently published, including the Romanian universities present in the most important international rankings. For the first time, a private university, Titu Maiorescu University of Bucharest, is included in this ranking. The national metaranking is a mechanism for ranking higher education institutions in Romania according to the criterion of their presence in the international university rankings. According to the document, one of the specific objectives of Metaranking is to identify the representative higher education institutions in Romania, performing scientifically and with international visibility in the global rankings of European and Western universities.
The 2021 report (based on the Order of the Ministry of Education No. 3095/2022 of February 7, 2022 for the approval of the Methodology for conducting the national metaranking exercise) included in the ranking 30 state universities (out of a total of 53) and a private university (out of a total of 40). Metaranking for 2021 marks a premiere for Romanian higher education: the presence in the international rankings of a private university in Romania, Titu Maiorescu University in Bucharest.
Being included in the National Metaranking of Universities, the fact of being the first private university in Romania in this hierarchy, as a result of its presence in the global rankings, is for Titu Maiorescu University of Bucharest a performance that reflects its academic status, quality and competitiveness at national and international levels. Such a nomination, honorable for any higher education institution, is the result of a continuous process of institutional development marked by quality, excellence and performance in academic education and scientific research.
